"Thistle"

The thistle also called the "Flower of Scotland".

Legend tells us that the thistle was responsible

for saving the Scottish army. An invading force

came upon a Scottish encampment at night.

The invaders removed their boots in order

to quietly approach the slumbering Scots

without making noise that would wake the army.

Approaching the encampment, the invaders

stepped upon the thistles in the field.

The ensuing cries of pain awoke the Scots

who then quickly defeated the invading army.
